Classes

Hi Everyone!  I've relocated from Asheville, NC, in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains to Kailua Kona, on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii!

I am setting up shop and will let ya'll know when I have more classes up my sleeve. I am sure it will not be long, because I love to share the craft of painting and launch artist's on their creative journeys of expression.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in beginning together.

Kind words from some wonderful artists:

"Rebecca’s disarming invitation to “come play with color” belied the depth of her knowledge and the scope of her accomplishments as a fine artist. But it got me through the door of her studio (I could do that!) and set me on a path to my heart’s desire: learning how to paint and how to see.
Rebecca is a gifted and generous teacher.  Her knowledge, warmth, and encouragement made her studio the ideal incubator for my growth and confidence as a beginning watercolorist. Through weekly demonstrations, class exercises, and techniques for problem solving, she led by example. Always positive, she helped us identify strengths in our own paintings on which to build, and celebrated our successes.
What she gave to us individually, we came to encourage in one another.  Since Rebecca’s move, those of us left behind (and in denial!) continue to paint weekly in one another’s homes. Our favorite catch phrase when stuck? W.W.R.D. (What Would Rebecca Do?) Sometimes the voice of a great teacher lives on in your head.
Quite simply, Rebecca is a wonderful human being who brings out the best in her students and creates a community of artists wherever she goes. I hope that anyone lucky enough to live near our dynamic former teacher will take full advantage of her gifts!
" --  Nancy L-R

"I have found Rebecca's classes to be inspiring and innovative. She encourages without pushing, critiques with love and insight and is generous with her time and energy in every class. More than anything, Rebecca is exuberant about art and shares that enthusiasm with all of her students.  Rebecca has that rare quality where she can meet you where you are. Whether experienced or just beginning, each class is a wonderful art experience!"  -- Kathy Detzer, Fine Artist http://www.kathydetzerart.com/

"Meeting and working with Rebecca has been not only wonderful but extremely helpful. Being a type A person, art class provided me with much relaxation. I can focus on what I'm doing with great enjoyment. I have been with Rebecca for about 6-7 years and what a friend I have now. Nothing is too much trouble. Her classes have always had very interesting people who also became friends. Rebecca can draw almost anything and she will do a demonstration at the beginning of each class. Observing her methods help each of us to feel more comfortable when we begin to paint. I have learned so very much over the years and as a class we have put on art shows locally-much fun! Watercolor painting provides for skills and sometimes accidents which turn out to be great mistakes. Enjoy the fun!
The one thing that drew me to Rebecca was her love for vibrant colors. That was what I was looking for when we met. However, she can do anything!" -- Leslie

"A decade ago, classes with Rebecca Gottesman started me on my new life as an artist. Recently, when I decided to explore a change from pastels to acrylic paints and a brush to make my art, I returned to Rebecca's studio. From planning my painting to color theory and color mixing to the use of a brush and acrylic glazes, Rebecca was knowledgeable and skilled. Her style is supportive, collaborative and fun.  I recommend any of her classes!"  -- Judith Beckett

"I've taken many painting classes from nationally known pastel artists, and each instructor provides me with one more technique I can add to my particular painting style.  Rebecca Gottesman is my "teacher". Rebecca is multi-accomplished in the arts and exudes a warmth and sense of humor that keeps me going back to her wonderful studio week after week. What she gives to her students are individual skills, no matter what the medium, in order to pursue their own paths. She gives constant support, and helps build confidence with her positive outlook. These, inevitably lead to growth and self awareness. What more can a student ask?" -- Paula Dorr, Art Teacher, Hanover School District, Hanover, N.H.
